I recently replaced the flooring and decided to change the rubber flange gasket of the toilet with a wax ring.There are no leaks,but it doesn't flush the big stuff.Could it be that the ring is not sitting properly?Should I go back to a rubber type?Or just a different wax type?

Sounds like you are going to have to pull the toilet up again. Wax rings are a one time use item. You will definitely need a new one. You may also need to replace the flange and the mounting bolts for the toilet. If you replace the flange you need to know if you have a plastic(PVC) or cast iron waste pipe, and buy a flange made for that type. If the flange was in good shape when you reinstalled the toilet, then most likely you mangled the wax seal and it is partially blocking the waste pipe. After you pull the toilet, clean off all the old wax(messy, nasty, sticky stuff). Then I would suggest you try and dry fit the mounting bolts into the flange and try putting the toilet in place to see how the bolts line up. Then pull the toilet back up and put in a new wax seal and reinstall the toilet, trying to line everything up with as little movement as possible. Wax seals are designed for a one shot installation. I find it easier to put the wax on the flange, not the bottom of the toilet, as some product directions suggest. And try to get the mounting bolts to stand straight up through the flange, then carefully place the toilet trying to get the bolts to come through the bottom of the toilet before you compress the seal.

Sounds like the wax ring may not be centered and some of it is blocking the royal hole. You'll need to get another one and redo that project...being careful how you place the wax.

Did you seal it correctly? Sometimes there is a problem in the "circulation" if not done so.
I would re-do it but try using a hair dryer for about 15 mins. Sounds bizarre but it makes a big difference.

You answered your own question, but that old saying two heads are better than one. Get the wax ring with the poly nipple on it, so much easier and a good seat. good luck
