mine is not eating either, and most of the time is sleeping...... my neighbor has one turtle too, and the same thing is happening... I am sure they are hibernating. However, if you are really concerned.. go to a local vet.

Upgrading a tank for every time your turtles get greater effective is a waste of money, only start up with the biggest length tank you may arise with the money for or in case you have room get a kiddie pool. exterior canister filters often are not low priced distinctly good ones Fluval and Eheim are quite superb, Renas are superb once you're on a funds the zoomed ones are not that stable they're ok for small 10 gallon tanks. On appropriate of the filter out, only determine you replace the media. Turtle pellets...you will get a jar of the stuff for around $5 and it may final you a minimum of a year while you're no longer over feeding.

1. You NEED to identify the species of turtle. The perfect care for one species can kill another species.
2. Once you know the species, be prepared to create the proper habitat for it. It can easily run over $100 to set a tank up for turtles.
3. The 2 most common reasons a turtle does not eat is temperature (usually it is too cold) and the wrong food being offered. Humidity and lighting are other factors.
To identify the turtle, try the World of Turtles gallery at http://www.austinsturtlepage.com
There are also excellent articles and care sheets there as well.

Turtles hybernate. This is actually normal for them to not eat as much, or anything at all, during the Winter season.
What kind of turtle is it, by the way? That also matters. I've had desert tortoises as well as various water turtles (red-earred snappers, etc). Desert tortoises need more of an actual burrowing place and usually don't eat at all for the Winter. Water turtles don't need to hybernate so extremely usually, but they do need land or an area to hang out on, and they don't eat as much either. You could also ask a local vetrinarian for advice.
Hope that helps!

ok ... first the turtle needs to be in the water its not going to drink out of a bowl... they need heat .. like a lamp or sunlight ... turtles will not eat if they are not comfortable in their environment ... dont worry they can live for a long time with no food or water .. so if you forget to feed them one day ... they wont die ... i have my turtles in a 5 1/2 gallon tank it took them a while to get used to it ... i filled it half way with water and i put a filter so the water can stay clean ... i also have a little rock that they get on when i turn the light on... turtles in the wild stay in the water and when the afternoon sun is out they come out until they get very dry ... thats how the grow !!! the ultraviolet rays from the sun .. !!! or light!!! they will eat give it time !!!

Take it to the vet. They would have a better idea of what the problem might be.
