My God, yes. I am a writer and have spent a lot of time and effort in improving my craft and in finding ways to artistically (instead of as propaganda) expressing my psychological, social, and religious feelings. Words are beautiful to me--though they are so poor and limited as tools of communication, really--and I have studied several languages just for the chance to enjoy words and methods of communication.
If you like to write, read "The Art of Fiction" by John Gardner, at the very least. Read as much of you can of good literature, not just the formulaic genre fiction, and even read a lot of plays, poetry, etc., in as many forms as you can so you can determine what really turns you on--then make matching that your goal and set to it.
Writing well is so hard, a lifetime of work, but it is really worth it, because you will learn so much about life and people and psychology, as well as many other things in the process.

i love to write poems ..however i never show anyone my poems because i feel as though not alot of people appreciate poems and poets these days!
