I am doing a Master's project on same sex couples raising children and/or adopting. (gay parents do not create gay children)

When you provide your response, please let me know; your sexual orientation (if you are GLBT please provide contact information for further questions on this topic), do you believe same sex parents can raise healthly, successful children, and if not, why; do you believe having two same sex parents would be better than having only a single parent?

Do you think it is important that each gay parent be 'out' or openly gay, do you think there should be an age requirement for adoption?

Any and all comments on this topic will be helpful.

thank you

My focus in on the ability of the parents and the outcome of the children, only, each of us know society surrounding them, casting their views, remarks and glares will be a problem, but they are not a primary focus for this project.

What's the difference between gay parents and heterosexual ones? Apart from in the bedroom, which children of gay or straight couples should not be exposed to? All parents work hard to protect, provide and nourish their children's lives.

If the concern is a lack of a female or male parent to balance the family structure, then let me set a challenge: write a list of all the traits and behaviours associated with being a woman and being a man. Then see if you can find even one person who conforms 100% to either list. They don't exist. Instead you'll find that the best parents have a good mix of traits that compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses and therefore set a good example to their children.

It's time that we all questioned our assumptions about our differences, because it’s the people that are judgemental of alternative families that are causing the harm they are supposedly trying to prevent. Aswell as setting an example to their own children that it's OK to bully other people that are different to you.
