Using the previous posters info, I'll comment. Depending on when you're going it can be comfortably hot (like now) or uncomfortably hot (likein July-Aug). For the most part though the weather is a plus, I mean that is wht everyone comes down here. Regarding hurricane season, that is a hit or miss deal. Some years are bad, like 2005 and other's are a big dud, like last year.

If you're going to Orlando, do stay outside of the city, but if you do be prepared to add inconvience to your stay. There isa reason why staying in Orlando costs so much and why staing elsewhere cost a fraction of that cost....It's call accessibility.

Key West can be expensive, but I've had many a good time there and it didn't break the bank. Also you can go down to Islamorada, which is the top of the Keys and have just as much fun for not as much money. Yes the Keys have a large gay community, but where isn't that the case. They pretty much add to the party and when it goes over the edge, just move on to another venue.

The Space Coast is nioce and makes for a great day outing. If you go and it is possible, try to schedule your visit as to when there is a shuttle launch scheduled, makes it that much more enjoyable.

As for Miami, like any city, there are the ups and downs. It is no more dangerous than any other place. South Beach speaks for itself and is pricey but there are alternatives, like Coral Gables (Miracle Mile) and Cocoanut Grove.

I hope that this helps.

Florida! great place to holiday, I would suggest a Fly Drive, and stay at Motels, the prices vary from place to place, generally the Gulf coast, Naples and St Pete's, Sanabel Island are expensive, as is the Keys, you just have to try harder to find reasonably priced accommodation. Places you MUST see--- The Everglades, Alligator Alley, The Keys, go right to the end, Key West! Try Fort Myres and if you must, Disney of course! that's in Orlando, lots of cheap Motels there, Have a super time and Good Luck with your trip!

A lot of snowbirds from Canada have homes in Florida they don't use during the off season. They rent them out through agencies when they're not using them. Call around to rental agencies in Kissimee and Tampa. We got a 3 bedroom house for a week for $200 US.

Also, you can take casino cruises that leave from Tampa port and go out into international waters. Dinner and cruise are very nice.

If you want Disney then book a complete package before you go.
If like me you want to avoid all that like the plague, then fly drive and tour down either coast and stay at the cheap guest houses and motels.
top tip... stay at the motels a few streets back from the beach front, at least half the price!

Ok - it will be HOT so be prepared for that. It will be right in the middle of hurricane season, so you might get some extra excitement. If you go to Orlando or Disney, for god's sake don't stay there- stay in nearby Kissimmee or even Lakeland - the hotels are a fifth the price. Key west is also expensive to stay at, and it's a gay mecca. Cape Canaveral is a very cool day long tour. If you visit Miami you will most likely be killed. Other than that, have a blast!
