I took a z-pak this month for a cold that was starting up. I know it can make birth control ineffective against pregnancy but can it delay when you would start your period?
BTW, I haven't had sex since October, I'm just trying to figure out whats going on lol

Thank you Captain Obvious aka Kelly V. Me andmy fiancee made a decision about not having sex back in October until our wedding day. It was a personal choice.

yes i think it can. i was on the pill for about 8 years. i remember plenty of times when i took antibiotics it made me not have a period at all that month.

i guess that's why they say use a back up for a month when you take them. good luck!

Antibiotics can decrease effectiveness of birth control pills by interfering with the way your body absorbs the hormones. I have never heard of an antibiotic making your period late. Especially the Zpak - most newer antibiotics and newer birth control pills hardly have any interactions any more.

When you're sick or under a lot of stress that can delay your period or make it early. I don't think the medication has much to do with it....
