You've only been there 1 day!!! You're bound to feel unsettled for a while. When I first started my current job, I sat in my office and cried on the first day! I really missed the people I worked with for 4 years previously - we worked in an open plan office and there was so much camerarderie and good laughs and suddenly I was in a room on my own! Now, however, I love having a room to myself and I'm getting to know everyone here....you will settle eventually. You could also give it a time limit of say 6-8 months and if you don't feel any better then start looking around - any prospective employer would be impressed that you've stayed so long in one place.

Think what you feeling is normal really. moving from some where you have worked for 12 years to some where totally new where things are differant is a hugh upheaval. Think for a few weeks you will feel a little uneasy as you will be still finding your feet but i would bet once you are settled in you will be fine.

Good look with the new job and hope you settle in.

Just take one day at a time and one thing at a time. Sure you miss your old friends. It was comfortable to you. Now you have to make new friends. It will all come together it just takes time. In about 2 - 3 weeks you will fit in just fine, you just have to get to know the routine. Think of it as a challenge and go get 'em.

been there done that
do what you did in the super center but some times its good to be told what to do
make suggestions on how to make the place work better & muck in by leading by example worked for me
but dont be cocky with any one lower than you learn their strengths & weaknesses & you will have new friends soon eneugh as well as your old friends
ask if you think your stepping on any ones toes by putting new procedures in place. always be honest
it wont tale long to settle in m8. lol

Just give it time, honestly the 1st day is always weird. You'll get used to it and soon enough you'll actually start to enjoy it - you'll make new friends and learn the new ways. If you keep an open mind you be fine...

Give it a few weeks - I'm sure you'll settle in fine. You did at the last place. It's hard for everyone when they first start a job.

You need to give it chance, obviously it'll be weird on your first day.

You'll make new friends and get used to their systems soon enough and 'progress in your career', which was your request.

Chill out and keep smiling. It'll get better.
