Ok, here is the deal. You WON'T get locked out of your car if the battery goes dead, just like on a car that comes with keyless entry to begin with.....YOU STILL HAVE A KEY. Nobody randomly removes all your lock hardware when installing keyless entry or there wouldn't be anything for the power actuator they are adding to get power to the locks to hook to. You are only adding something (the actuator) and taking away nothing that was originally on the car. HERE is the problem with keyless entry. When it is installed, you have to tap into the cars wiring harness to get power to go to the actuator you are installing. If you do not wire it correctly, then many other features of the car can start to malfunction if they cause a short in the system. MAKE SURE the guy doing it is a professional and there would be no other possible problems. GOOD LUCK!

If done properly there are no bad repercussions from having it.

If you really want to stretch the imagination to find something bad about it then picture this:

You're leaving your car and shove the keys in your purse, and the button gets pressed accidentally -- unlocking your car without noticing it.

Other than this astronomical contingency, there is no problem with it.

If installed correctly, there will be no ill effects to anything in your car. I've had one on my car since the day I bought it 5 years ago with no probs

If you remove the actual mechanical locks when you install it you can end up locked out if the battery dies, or if something goes wrong with the wiring.

Unless you are fairly adept at automobile wiring you should probably leave it to a professional - the people who design auto wiring smoke a special kind of crack.
