If the Mooninites were that threatening, why is it that the other nine cities across america didn't give a damn? These marketing props were placed strategically at their locations over 2 weeks ago!

Knowing what we know now, it is easy to characterize them as foolish. But as a fire department officer, seeing an unattended electrical device in a transport location, it's tough to say - what if you didn't handle it and it blew up?

The problem is that what did make them find these things to be suspicious?

How do they were able to find the other packages so quickly?

Why did Cartoon Network stay silent long enough to cause the reports of the misunderstanding of their packages to go international?

It should be noted that the city have the right to took down items in public city property that they deemed to be not in their place. They don't have to think the items to be dangerous.

Anyway. If you think this is an over-reaction, then you should think that the reaction on 9/11 it's too an over-reaction, since both were the same, the difference is over 1000 lives and several buildings.

110% agree!!!

They were marked on a website, up for 2 weeks time, and the have a freaking CARTOON character flipping the bird on the front of them... I don't think that the terrorists would resort to 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force', I mean, they probably don't know who the hell the Mooninites are... They would stick to thestereo-typical characters like Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny... LOL!

No, if you see a package attached to a bridge with the cartoon character of Wile E. Coyote holding a stick of ACME dynamite on it, RUN LIKE HELL!!!

of course they over reacted. if any one in the fire dept watched that show or know of that character it wouldn't have been such a big deal. The L.E.D. props would have been removed without a fuss

Yes. And makes me concerned if they would be competent in detecting and REAL threat. Boston officials seem very Magoo after going nuts over this.

hey there was no for warnings by Turner, that some thing was going to happen, He just went ahead and did it.`. People got scared, and they had the right to treat those items as bombs.

In case your mind is still sleeping, there are countries out to kill us, and they have big bomb fetishes they work with.

Some executive was looking at the big bucks he was going to make over this stunt, but failed to consider that it would csare people, and that was a BAD MOVE

Yes, they over-reacted.
But what do you expect, when the leader of our country makes it a point to continually instill fear of "boogeymen terrorists" into the people? Bush wants us to believe there are terrorists around every corner -- that way he get to continue his trumped-up "war on terrorism," which is nothing more than a fast-track to take your tax money and feed it to defense contractors who contributed to his campaigns.
This is the climate of fear he's created -- people afraid of cartoon characters. Very, very sad.
