What are my rights when my employer bounced my paycheck last week? I live paycheck to paycheck so now my checking account is in chaos. Who is responsible for all those fees and the fees that are charged to me by the stores where the checks bounced? I have a decent credit rating and I'm afraid that my employer will inadvertenly ruin my score.

Unfortunately, you are responsible for the bounced check fees. Your options as far as dealing with your employer is to either sue him for bouncing the check to you, or you can take the issue up with your local district attorney and possibly have them prosecuted. Needless to say, I'd also start looking for another job.

Have your bank provide a signature guarantee for the bad check then take the check to the bank on which it was drawn to demand payment do this every day until the funds are there - hopefully it won't take long. Also talk to your bank manager and see what they can do about the fees - they may waive them you have to ask. Talk to you employer and find out what happened and if it will happen again if he is unsure than ask him to fire you so you get unemployment while looking for a new job. Good Luck!

You are responsible for the fees, but if your boss has even a shred of decency, he will reimburse you if you ask. You do need to take care of this mess immediately, because although the bank will not report you to credit bureaus since it was his bad check that caused it, the merchants to whom you wrote the checks will not care whose fault it was. If you cannot clear this up quickly, check with you local worthless check office to find out legally how much time you may have to clear it all up before the merchants start turning the checks into them for collection.

Talk to your bank. Explain what happened. They may waive the fees. If not, your employer should pay the fees!

This has happened to me before. My employer paid the fee on the bounced check. I now cash my checks at their bank!

Definitely your employer is responsible for the fees, with all bills, bank, etc. How is your relationship with your boss? Can you talk to him/her about the situation? If you get no where with that...contact an attorney or the Better Business Bureau...

I would tell your boss that you will contact the local department of labor and file a complaint against him. Tell him that you want the money owed to you immediately as well as for him to cover the fees.

If it affects your credit rating, you can write a letter of dispute to all 3 agencies.

I would demand that your employer cover all fees you accumulate. You can contact your local labor board and they can advise you of the specifics concerning your rights.

I would say he is responsible. You need to talk to him about it and see what he will do to fix it.
