Where can I find a definition of theinternational symbols on packaging?

I want to be able to look up a symbol that is on consumer packaging and understand what it means. Example: a symbol of an umbrella means what? waterproof?

look for sets of icons called "isotype" or "pictograms." These are the international symbols that you see in airports, bathroom doors, etc.
