You know when I am typing really fast, I sometimes mispell things, but I have noticed that when I ask a question with a mispelled word in it , there is always that person who like to say mockingly, "by the way, it is spelled this way" talking to you like you are totally ignorant because of that one mistyped word. It agravates me. I hope I spelt everything properly so I dont get anymore insulting replies about that.

It's called a false argument. Because it has nothing to do with refuting the point being made. They don't win the debate they aren't participating in a debate.

Glad to see the lone ranger has a serious task to deal with.

If you check the screen you will see a little bit that says "check spelling"

There is no excuse for spelling words wrong.

BUT other words may be recognised as spelt correctly when it is the wrong word. This is a mistake that is common and seeing as the AVERAGE English person has a mere nodding acquaintance with correct spelling, should be pointed out to help, not to make fun.

I generally point out egregious errors in spelling and grammar not so much to "win a debate," but to acquaint people with the importance of language.

There's nothing at all wrong with going back over something you've typed quickly and proof-reading it. It's not as if there were a prize for posting something quickly.

Everyone makes a typo now and then. It could be that the person is trying to be helpful. It's not like they said "hey idiot, you spelled this wrong." But I admit that I sometimes give less weight to someone's opinion when it's filled with misspellings and grammatical errors.

By the way, you forgot the apostrophe in "don't". Sorry...had to be done. ;o) I usually don't correct anyone on their spelling so I'm just teasing you!

You didnt spell everythig right but imperfections are what make us human. Dont apologise for making a mistake. I make them all the time but that is how we learn.

Some people just can't resist nit-picking. Try to ignore them.
