What's preventing website owners from getting together in groups to click the ads on each other's websites? The clicks would not all come from the same place, so the advertiser would not be able to track them. The only thing I can think of is that the clicks per impression would be suspiciously high.

What I mean is, people who have ads on their websites, clicking on the ads on others' websites, in exchange for these others' clicking on the ads on the original person's webpage. That way, everyone gets ad revenue.

Gaming is the primary reason that most businesses fail. You can have a company where forty employees work hard and one employee games the system. The whole company will fail.

It just like going crabbing. You put one crab is an bucket he will get out if you don't put a lid on it. You put two crabs in a bucket, nobody gets out. As soon as one tries the other pulls him back. this is the reason that most third world countries are failures.

If you are going to loose why join others, you can do it by yourself.

There used to be an orgnized group called GoogleSwap at googleswap.com. Members of the group would visit other's sites.

Nothing is preventing these groups from starting; they're certainly not illegal. (As much as anyone thinks they ought to be.)

The only drawback is that Google is able to cross reference IP addresses and websites; I'm sure the visits would be very similar month over month. Google would certainly withhold the revenue from those sites.

Hi,

If you are talking about adsense ads forget it! First of all google will understand and not only ban the accounts but you will loose all earnings you got!

When you click on ads you make money but others loose! Advertisers loose money!

being in that position myself, i wouldnt have time enough in my day to be able to click that many times on an ad. and there is something called "uniques" which counts everytime a new person visits that site or ad. there are all sorts of tracking aspects one can put on their ad campaigns to make sure they are not being taken advantage of.

It would defeat their purpose. Most ad placements are based on the number of clicks and it would raise the clicked company on the list.

Google is very sophisticated - they would know unless you got thousands of people and then how would you know they were doing it?

and who has the time?

I've heard of businesses that were put out of business because of competitors doing that.
