You heard true. As it tastes good, of course it is not good for you. If you are concerned go to "Salad" dressing. It tastes awful so it is much better for you. If you are smart - just use mayo in moderation.

3 eggs
¼ c. cider vinegar
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. dry mustard
2 2/3 c. oil

Combine eggs (turn on blender and start blending eggs); while still blending add vinegar, salt and dry mustard. Blend together at least one full minute, (this is important do not cut the blending time short). Gradually add oil very slowly (while mixture is still blending), but continuously. Blend until all of the oil is incorporated. It will require that you stop the blender and scrape down the sides and stir vigorously. Turn on blender again and continue blending, you may have to do this several times; as it is important that all the oil is completely incorporated. It should be very thick when finished. Store in a tightly sealed jar. Mayonnaise must be stored in a refrigerator.

Yield: 3 cups

real mayo is made up of mostly egg yolks, and yes it does have quite a bit of oil in it. it's okay to have it every once in a while, but not all the time. it is loaded with saturated fat and cholesterol which are bad for your heart. so just don't have it too often.
if you really like something creamy, substitute miracle whip. it's a healthier choice, and has lots more flavor!

true, eggs and oil, good for you not really, small amounts ok, try substituting a spicy or flavored mustard, or maybe hummas on sandwiches. as far as salads that are mayo based use a lite mayo and maybe a little mustard for more flavor

Mayonnaise is a thick sauce made primarily from vegetable oil and egg yolks.[1] Whitish-yellow in color, it is a stable emulsion formed from the oil and yolks and is generally flavored with salt, pepper, vinegar and/or lemon juice, and frequently mustard

and its not very good for you at all

Absolutely true (well, plus preservatives and flavorings). This pretty much explains why mayo is pretty bad for you. In moderation, it can be acceptable, but I would recommend not having a big bowl for breakfast.

The true mayonnaise is very fattening. My family gets Veggennaise, it is sold at Wild Oats Market. It's all natural, and at first I was skeptical, but you honestly can't tell the difference. You know it works when two 10-year-old can't tell the difference, either.
