found 5,500 would it be save to remove these without checking them or just leave them on pc will this slow pc down

NO NO NO
Many of these files are dll's (dynamic link libraries) required for programs to run
Just because there is more than one of them doesn't mean you can get rid of them
If they are not in the folder the program expects them to be in the program will not run
ONCE AGAIN NO NO NO NO NO.

i think the above two both are right
you cant remove the duplicate dlls
but if your hard disk is full then try to go thorough the list and remove those with a safe extension like txt,zip,pif etc

If these files are duplicates dump them they are not reqired because you already have them.If these files are running all the time then they will slow your computer down.Run task manager to see.
