Some answer community participants disable their incoming email function so others cannot respond to their "questions" or "comments". This is a cowardly way of hit and run, without getting the other end of the spectrum. If you want the true imact of what you say on "answers", enable your email function so the rest of us can reply to your (sometimes ignorant) "comments" and "questions". Though you may get hit with hundreds of emails, and you can't respond to all of them-- it's quite enlightening and at times amusing. (you can always disable it and shrink back into your corner). -- take the gloves off and stand up for what you say. Enable your incoming email function!

"Though you may get hit with hundreds of e-mail..."

That is why my incoming e-mail function is disabled. I don't want potentially hundreds of e-mails blasting away at answers to a questions that are often subjective in nature. There's nothing enlightening about that, nor is it constructive.

"the rest of us can reply to your (sometimes ignorant) "comments" and "questions"."

When people leave answers to questions I have asked Yahoo generates an e-mail notification, so that I know when someone has provided an answer. In fact, if someone feels a question is a poor one they are quite capable of including that information in their answer. If there is an answer that they don't like, they can include that in their answer or comments.

"it's quite enlightening and at times amusing."

I don't find flaming, spamming type e-mails to be enlightening or amusing. I don't need flaming, spamming type e-mails to be engaged or to receive benefit from this format. So it's disengaged.

I disable my email because I already get enough spam through my accounts that I do not need additional junk showing up from people here on Yahoo with a chip on their shoulder.

Some people are just happy to criticize someone else's response or question and will just send you all sorts of mail filled with obscenities or threats. I've been there, done that, don't need that. Precisely why I disabled mail in the first place.

The only opinions I care about is the persons I get responses from for my questions, and the person I responded to. If they want to criticize my response, they are welcome to do so.

Others can either agree or disagree with me using their appropriate thumbs up or thumbs down rating. You want to rate me poorly for my "opinion" on this subject, by all means I accept whatever punches you want to give with the gloves off - just do me a favor and keep them above the belt.
