if you are uk based, goto Curry's as they are selling DVD recorders for £45+ all dvd recorders are compatible with sky, just make sure you buy some good quality scart leads to connect it all up.

anything will be compatible with sky so dont worry there

have you thought of maybee going for a sky+ box i have one and it is fantastic, have a look on sky.com as it may be cheaper to get a sky+ box that a dvd recorder and then you dont have to worry about timers and channels when recording, just pick what you wnt from the on screen program gide

The cheapest is probably the Toshiba DR 160 at around £90 (see amazon.co.uk). If you connect it to your sky box, it should record. But if you want to record for viewing later, a receiver with a hard disk (PVR) such as Sky+ may be less hassle but more pricey.
