okay i have been on birth control for the past year. i know when you first start it you have symptoms but they are supposed to go away. well mine have not. I have tried several different types of birth control, the ring, the patch, and two different pills. none have helped. i am nauseus the whole time i am taking it except fot the placebo week. i am very irritable, and every month but one I got my period twice or even three times. my gyno is just as confused as me.

the issue is i feel i need to be on it because I am sexually active. myself and my boyfriend use a condom every time but accident do happen. and I know it only takes one accident. my son is living proof. i want to go off birth control but I am nervous about the obvious consequences. and there are many forms i cannot go on because I want to have more children someday and these could jepordize my fertility. should i risk it and feel normal again? or suffer? thanks all.

Go back to your doctor and ask for a different method or a different pill. I recommend one like LoEstrin or YAZ because they're mono-phasic (only one chemical all month long). It took me nearly TWO DOZEN pills to find one that worked for me with minimum side effects.

Also, try taking your pill at night before bed or with meals to alleviate the nausea. Irritability is a matter of finding a chemical combo that's right for you.

Or you could switch to a barrier method such as Lea's Shield; combined with spermicides it claims a very high efficacy rating. Combine THAT with condoms and rhythm methods, and you could be VERY safe.

Good luck.

i would say that if it is interferring with your life as much as it seems then you should get off of birth control. I went through the same process, but i stopped at the ring...if you have not talked to your doctor, now would be the time. I have heard that there is a low does pill, but i am not sure of the ones you have already been on. These are some low does ones i have looked up that you can ask about.... (LoEstrin 1/20, Alesse, Mircette, LoOvral, Nordette, Ortho-Cept , Cyclessa, and Yasmin) the first three are the lowest doses you can get on the market....so write these down and see what you and your doctor think will do the trick

I can't take birth control pills, they made me extremely sick. (To the point I had very painful bruises popping up on my extremities for no reason.) So I decided to stay away from everything that altered by body with hormones and/ or chemicals. We also can't use anything with spermicide. I use the Fertility Awareness Method for birth control along with condoms. However, it is highly unforgiving if you make a mistake in charting. But if you do become pregnant, you don't have to worry about effects from pills or possibly aborting the baby (among other things) when taking out the IUD. There is also no guess work as to when you conceived. Of course, when you are ready to expand your family, you can only benefit from FAM as it aids in pregnancy achievement as well. There are no side effects. The biggest disadvantage to you is obviously you're not in a committed relationship, so a surprise pregnancy would be a huge challenge.

All of the birth control methods you mentioned contain the same sort of ingredients (a combo of estrogen and progestin). That is why you are having symptoms with all of them. The ring, the pill etc contain same ingredients, the difference is the various ways you ingest them. e.g. have to take pill every day but can leave the ring in. I had similar problems and just had to use barrier methods. good luck.

Birth control pills did the same thing to me. I would recomend going with the IUD it is not the same IUD of years ago. This one is very safe with very little if any side effects. I had mild cramping for a couple days after they inserted it and thats all. When my husband and I wanted to get pregnant again we made an appointment went in had it removed and the next month I was pregnant. If you have any more in depth questions feel free to IM or email me.

Mirena coil!! It is an intra uterine device (like the loop) but this one works by delivering a small amount of progesterone directly to your uterus, so it does not have to be absorbed by your bloodstream, good way of contraception and the added bonus of lighter periods for shorter duration or they can go away. Very safe, and fertility will be restored once you have removed it. It can stay in for about 5 years. Hope this helps. Good luck

You said you are a mother of one child so why not use an IUD?
I have not heard that IUD has any affect on fertility. Its not advised for women who never had a child, but you did. I think that would be the best solution for you.

well i have heard of a cream or something you insert into your vagina before sex that kills sperm. but i dont know how true it is or how yucky it would be. try to use the condom and when hes gonna *** have him pull out just to prevent accidents. but if the birthcontrol is making you sick get off of them. im a mother of 6 and acctually the only times i didnt get pregnant is with the pull out method. but i know there are alot of people that have gotten pregnant. but i think with both condom and pull out youll be ok. good luck.
