why you think your in laws would not be happy. I would tell them as soon a you find out and if they take the news well then great and if not you be happy. I am trying to have a baby and my parent's and in-laws can't wait to hear the good news.

If you know they won't be happy it matters not if you tell them now or 2 weeks before you have the baby, they will still be upset, so forget everyone and go for it and let them know for the sake of your own ease. You don't need their confirmation you just need to let them know. Besides you both have good jobs and I am sure you can get through this even without their support, they'll come around when the baby is born.......they all do!

I would wait til you are at least 3 months. I know this will be hard.. but by then the chances of a miscarriage will have dropped. Only saying this because I have been through it before. I got everyone all excited and then lost my baby. Crushed my grandma's heart. Or at least wait til you have your 1st u/s and see how well things are going. Congrats and praying for a healthy delivery!!

Why wouldn't your inlaws be happy?!
I think your misreading them. Believe me...my in laws hated me! My hubby is from India and they planned an arranged marriage. They even offered him one of his nieces (ew). Then he came to the US and met me :))
They hated me and put me down because I was white. Because I was American. They saw me as the woman that stole their son from them. They didn't attend the wedding and said they'd kill themselves. Boy, did they go overboard in the drama dept!! His dad said he wouldn't bathe or shave until he came home while his mom threatened to hang herself.
Long story short. None of that happened. Eventually they mellowed out and were ESTATIC when we told them we were expecting. It healed all the wounds and they love thier grandson!!
Yeah, things may always be a little strange or I feel awkward sometimes. But at least no one hung themselves...yet ;)
----
Almost forgot. Hubby and I told our parents right away. I figured if something bad happened we'd both want the support of our parents. And, for me I'd need my sister too!!

Why wouldn't they be happy? They are going to find out one way or another you are pregnant - and they have a grandkid when your baby is born!
I would tell them when you are 12 weeks at the least. Don't worry about what they are going to think - it's your life and it sounds like you and hubby have everything under control. Congrats!

Whenever you want, I had a misscarriage at 6 weeks and did not find out until 12 weeks, so next time I may wait until 12 weeks to tell.

Telling someone you are pregnant is a hard thing to do, but just remember that it is a good thing that you are pregnant. They won't be mad, they will be happy for you. This should be a happy experience instead of a bad one.

The question is why would you be afraid to tell them? You and your husband are adults and you should not have to make anyone happy or answer to anyone for that matter. Tell them today and if they are not overly ecstatic, oh well. You have your own family unit to worry about now.

if you are certain that they will be unhappy/unsupportive, then i'd wait as long as possible to tell them....who needs that kind of negativity!!...otherwise i'd probably tell them right away-just cuz i'd be so excited!!....by the way, i feel that the house, the jobs, the short time you've been married...none of that matters...a baby is a joy and a blessing, and everything will fall into place
congrats

I think it would be good to wait until you are at least 3 months along. 3 months is usually a safe time to announce a pregnancy to anyone.
