The two behind the advertising gimic were arrested and are being held in jail for this. These signs had been up for a few weeks and also in mulitple cities.

"The packages in question are magnetic lights that pose no danger," Turner said in a statement. It said the devices have been in place for two to three weeks in 10 cities: Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Ore., Austin, Texas, San Francisco and Philadelphia.

I just dont see how and why they are trying to prosecute these guys for this.

"It is outrageous, in a post 9/11 world, that a company would use this type of marketing scheme," Mayor Thomas Menino said Wednesday. "I am prepared to take any and all legal action against Turner Broadcasting and its affiliates for any and all expenses incurred during the response to today's incidents."

It isn't their fault they weren't running around saying the sky is falling.

The only thing I think they could be charged with is maybe not having the right permits to hang the signs up.

To Arkiamom, the fact that they had been posted for 2-3 weeks, defietes the whole argument of what if they were bombs and terrorist had planted them. If they were well looks like they were a little late to respond don't you think.

I think the authorities got a little out of hand calling out the bomb squad for some odd lighting magnet....at least have someone go check one out before you freak out an entire metro area...it was probably a stupid marketing idea in hindsight, but my God why feakout pover nothing...we are turning into a nation of *******!! No offense girls.

What would people have said if it had been a stunt designed to test security systems and they had NOT reacted as they did? No one ever said terrorists are not capable of making devices that look perfectly harmless. All bombs do not come wrapped in plain brown paper or black briefcases. Better to err on the side of safety than to become complacent. It is a sad way to live - but necessary in this new world we live in. Also - if it was just a marketing campaign - why didn't they inform the proper authorities or publicize it? Besides the financial cost, their lack of forethought inconvenienced thousands of people and took emergency personnel away from other things that needed to be dealt with.

Totally blown out of proportion.

I think the authorities were embarassed and now they're going to take it out on these two guys.

Notice how they were both smiling when they were arrested?

When I was it was an advertisement for ATHF, I just smiled. It made my month.

I blame Master Shake for this all.

I think it is funny that these idiots thought they are above the law. I hope they pay thousands in fines and lawyers fees.
