If you want it to play games, your answer is PC.
Other than that, I prefer the OSX interface. I like not having to deal with crazy viruses and popups and all that jazz.
I used to be militant PC, but a friend of mine got an iBook and after some fiddling with it, I was sold and asked for one for graduation in 04. Since then, I've abandoned my PC desktop and am currently in the market for an iMac for video editing. It's really a personal preference, they are both computers, but I find the Macs more asthetically pleasing. It is less of an ugly "tool" and more of a piece of the room.
Go to an apple store and mess around with the interface. A Mac can do EVERYTHING a PC can do... aside from a couple of games... but even if those are that important, the new Macs can run Windows too...

Short answer: Its not. At this point, they're fairly even, so its a matter of preference (or need). PCs still have the majority for compatible software, but there are windows emulators that you can run on a mac. Macs are generally better for audio and photo/video editing, while PCs are probably a bit better for general usage. As of now, macs are safer against viruses ONLY because there are fewer out there for the mac. Its known that the security on a mac is actually less than a windows machine (at the last hacker convention, OSX was hacked in about 15 minutes)

Your answer will vary depending on who you ask. You have many passionate users of Macs and many passionate users of PCs. You've got to make the best choice for yourself, however, don't forget to think about these issues...
SERVICE - how close are you to an authorized Mac repair shop? If you're in a rural area, it could be a long drive. As for PC's, just about any shop can work on PC's.
COMPATIBILITY - Think of the programs you currently use the most. Are there alternatives for the Mac that do the exact same thing and have the EXACT same features? Research this.
Lastly, while a handful of years back, you would need a Mac to do some high-end video editing and such, now a days, PC's can do the exact same thing as Macs in that regard. It just depends on the software you use and just how high-end your machine in.
I'm a PC guy 100% and can answer your question without showing much favoritism to either side. Let's see the other replies to your question. They should be rather heated, ha.

Yes, Your decision is right. It depend that what is the most important purpose you are going to choose MAC. If it is really for video editing/streaming than MAC is very good for that or if you want to use for many many puroposes than better go to PC. becoz now a days Dual Core/Quad Core processor are available in the market, which can full fill your requirement in PC also.

A Mac is much better than a PC for video editing and almost everything else. I had a Mac for years and was forced to switch to a PC due to support problems. If you live in a small city you will find that software and repair facilities for a Mac are nonexistent. If I lived in a major city I would still have one.

Well that's sort of a broad question. On what terms are you talking about? I would have to say that Windows has more software your able to install, but Macs are so much more stable. If your doing video editing, I would DEFINITLY say a Mac. Make sure you get lots of RAM for it though, atleast a GIG because of the work your doing.

well, it does depend on what you want to do. i switched from PC to mac, and i LOVE it. i'll never go back! it's hard because i have to use a PC at work, such a drag. if you go to an apple store, you can test out all their different products...might give you an idea of whether or not they're for you.

Most people doing visual work on their computer prefer Macs. Their biggest drawback is communication with PCs and compatibility with certain software.
