Czech food is on the stodgy site (lots of meat, dumplings, sauerkraut...). The rye bread sandwiches are excellent for a snack.

I have to say, I make a point wherever I go of making sure I eat the local fayre and trying lots of different things but I have to say, by day 3 in Prague I was so bloody hungry I had to go to McDonalds which is something I never do!
The food is largely based around quite cheap cuts of meat eg knuckles etc - there is a lot of goulash, and really ill looking french fries and veg with most things. I did think I had been unlucky at first and shopped around - one night I actually had 3 evening meals (none of which I managed to eat) and at that point I realised I probably hadnt. The good news is, its cheap!
I am sure there are some lovely places to eat in Prague but when I went about 3 years ago, they certainbly werent in the obvious places so I would suggest trying a guide book or something - hopefully you wont end up having to resort to McDonalds like I did!
On the plus side, I would gladly go hungry to go back to Prague again - its a beautiful and vibrant city and what it lacks in food quality, it makes up for in beer quality!

Discard the ususual junk (McDonald's, KFC, Burger King etc.), if you want that then don't bother going to Prague.
The local dish is goulash which is basically beef stew with bread (not suet) dumplings. It's delicious.
Wash it down with the local beer (again - don't even think about liquid trash like American Budweiser, Carlsberg or Stella). The local Czeck Budweiser (called Budvar) is the REAL THING and tastes like beer (not soap).
You can get this lot at any of the pub-cafes in the town (many are below river level).
Note that although the prices for a full meal are lower than the UK anwhere, they do get significantly dearer the closer you are to the "Old Town". Your hotel may offer a 'steralised' version at higher cost.
I won't recommend any particular place 'cos there's too many good 'uns. However, you might find best value for food, price and atmosphere (there's a lot of atomsphere, they smoke a lot) in the area about half way between the Charles Bridge and Wenceslas Square.
Most stag party groups just get ratted and miss out on enjoying the food itself (if they can keep it down). Stay clear of them or the police may round you up with them.
Incidentally, the trams are good value and travel very fast. They don't give way to anything!
Enjoy.

Depends what you like to eat? Prague has many types of restaurants including the usual MaccyD's, KFC, BK but also plenty of italian, indian and chinese restaurants. There is also a couple of irish bars with good food. Typical Czech food is goulash with dumplings which is really tasty!
Plenty of choice whatever your taste.

Local food : lots of stew, dumplings, cabbage, potatoes, cheap but not fabulous. Local beer however is excellent so the stodge is useful for mopping it up!
