One thing is clear, if you are pregnant and take a drink -- a glass of wine, a beer or a cocktail -- your unborn child takes the same drink. Whatever you eat or drink while pregnant goes directly through your bloodstream into the placenta.
If you're having a drink, baby is too.
For the unborn child, the alcohol interferes with his ability to get enough oxygen and nourishment for normal cell development in the brain and other body organs.
Research has shown that a developing fetus has very little tolerance for alcohol and infants born to mothers who drink during pregnancy can have serious problems.
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a pattern of mental and physical defects which develops in some unborn babies when the mother drinks "too much" alcohol during pregnancy.

The alcohol would travel from the placenta to the baby's blood stream. I'd imagine the baby would be very "drunk". Although it wouldn't be akin to what we know. Imagine feeding a beer interveniously - that's would it would be like.
That's why they say any alcohol during pregnancy is unsafe. Every baby is different and will react differently. Have you ever seen or known a child with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome? I feel in love with a foster child that has FAS. She's super sweet and has a lot of potential, I can't help but to imagine the great things she could have done had her mom not drank.
PS: Not accusing you - I know no one would be dumb enough to post a question like that if they actually did it!! :)))

The baby doesn't "technically" get drunk. But since we know alcohol has a detrimental effect on adults, imagine how bad that is for the TINY child growing inside you? Drinking while pregnant can cause severe birth defects and abnormalities

no the baby does not get drunk but is effected by it. but if you did not know the baby is getting effected thru it. the baby is developing and with alcohol the baby will be born with defects and maybe some kind of disease and even down syndrome. when you are pregnant you
are responsible for that life do not do something for the baby to suffer in life. be care full and think first before putting anything in your mouth because it does effect your baby.

Alcohol defintely gets into the baby's system. I don't know if the baby would be considered "drunk", but it is just a bad idea. Because their organs don't work the same way that an adult's organs do, it can cause all sorts of problems for the baby.

Drinking alcohol while pregnant is very dangerous to the baby. It can injure the child in many ways, not the least of which is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Yes, the baby will get drunk. Since the baby is much smaller than the mother, their blood alcohol count is much higher. This can cause distress in the baby and can cause fetal alcohol syndrome.

Being drunk means that you are killing brain cells and that your body cannot process the amount of alcohol, and thus becomes dehydrated, causing that "drunk" feeling.
So, yes, a baby will get "drunk" (not like silly and tipsy but have the scientific effects). When this happens repeatedly, it is called Fetal Alcohol syndrome and causes retardation and other mental problems in babies.

no, the baby gets brain damage and comes out disformed.
Do not drink or smoke during pregnancy. THOSE ARE VERY VERY VERY HARMFUL TO THE BABY.
The baby is very small, and very fragile. I wouldn't worry about trying to get your unborn child drunk, I'd worry about being a good parent and NOT harming your child.
You're only pregnant for 9 months, I'm sure the partying can wait.
If your child comes out deformed or mentally challenged what are you going to do? drink it away- not going to happen. You wont have the money to drink.
Some people shouldn't have children. Sorry but it's true.
