A hero but for a moment is not a hero just an individual who did not stop to think of himself.
They who spend whole life in pusuit of perfection of the human condition, may in but one moment of weakness succumb to being denied a heros worship.
One does not live a life of a hero until one has died as a hero.
Heros are made not born as such, the moment makes them while the next moment may make them fools.
To call a man a hero because he accomplishes something out of ordinary denies the fact the act was heroic and that the man was only an instrument of it.
A human is born and craps all over themselves and if they live long enough they will end up crapping all over themself, neither act is heroic but what he lives between those times may well be a heroic life.
A heros is person who does what we beleive we could not or in some cases not want to do.
Man is born and wears diapers and when he gets old they put them on once again.
It is the greatest conspiracy of all ages, The Diaper Conspiracy!
How can we fight it?
DEPENDS!

A modern day hero is a person that really tries to help you, that is kind and loyal, a person who would put the lives of everyone before his and self-sacrifice himself to save others. A person who puts his life on the line in order to help others. There are heroes like this in the world but they are not noticed by other people.

A real hero is not 007 JamesBond , but the soldiers of the armed forces who battle it out in harsh conditions be it Siachen in Himalayas or Afganistan or even Iraq, they give thier life so that we can sleep in peace, this is what I consider as a true Hero. The only hero (heroine) I can think of is Mother Theresa, who was a living saint, who worked in the slums of Calcutta as well as with the leprosy patients who have been shunted out of their own houses, touching these kind of people needs heroism, which Mother Theresa had in plenty. I do not support Christianity or its convertions, but the work done by Mother Thressa is what to say? Heroic, Saintly or Godly, you answer.

A hero is someone who is absolutely, wet-your-pants terrified and does what needs to be done anyway. Passengers of Flight 93 was mentioned. That's an excellent example.

Anybody can be a hero.
No definite characteristics may be given. It's all relative and controversial.
