I heard the interview and it seemed that he was attempting to be complimentary. It seems to me that in our "policially correct" culture, people will find and interpret another's words according to their own world view. In other words, the folks complaining about Senator Biden's comments are "getting what they look for." And in doing so, it says more about them, than it does about him.

Biden was complementing Obama and telling the truth about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.Jesse and Al are not articulate and clean(meaning too many skeletons in their closets).Nether one is that sharp or that attractive. So for possibly the first time in my life,I agree with Biden.

There was nothing wrong with what was said .True Mr Biden has but his foot in his mouth a few times but happens to everyone. It happens a lot when you fire from the hip as Mr Biden does .
You are so right though when you say people will find and interpret another's words according to their own world view.
We fall for that so often with this over hyped media we have.
Maybe a book on what words offend different races of people so we can all get along.
Politically correct is out of control!

It was a really really poor choice of words no matter what his intent. It's not the first time he has committed a faux pas such as this, did you hear his quote about convenience stores and Indians? "you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent." If he were elected he would rival Bush for asinine quotes.

If Biden had said that Obama is the first African-American man to run for President who is clean. Would that be ok?
If he had said that Obama is the first African-American man to run for President who is articulate. Would that be ok?
That's what he said and by saying it he implied that the other African-American men that ran for President were not clean and articulate and that cleanliness and articulate speech are issues for African Americans in general. I don't believe that Biden is a bigot or racist, but politicians live and die by their words. Biden is a politician.

Political correctness is just getting silly at times. And the news media doesnt help any. They love to take anyhing that any famous person says about someone else and turn it into a fight.

I think the media will do anything to get something to print. I also think that what he said was probably taken out of context.
