In Barcelona if I purchase a 2 day pass for the Hop on Hop off can I use it any day I want?

I heard you have to use it 2 consecutive days, if i buy it can i start it on any day I want. Any feedback would be great

I have been on the tourist hop on and off bus, from the day you buy it , you have to use it on 2 consecutive days. It is very good, well worth it or you would see half of barcelona, get upstairs for good views. They also give you little map of all the stops and things to do.
