It is some years since I completed this pattern, could well be 30 years old. I think it measured around 36" in diameter. I would know the pattern if I saw the cover.

You could make the rug with cotton yarn (dishcloth cotton). You could even crochet it with two strands of cotton yarn held together (and using a larger crochet hook) if you wanted a sturdier rug.

The rug shown in the example for that pattern could be for use in other rooms of the house, not just as a bathroom rug. It's a basic pattern that could be varied a lot according to the materials that you use to crochet it.
