The actor that plays Gil Grissom took some time away from the show to preform in a play in Providence, Rhode Island called a Dublin Carol. William Peterson was in Providence for much of December and part of January. The character of Grissom went on sabbitical to Massachusetts to teach a class near Walden Pond. He is suffering from burn-out and needed time away from the lab. He is only going to be gone for 4 weeks so should be back sometime in February. After all, it is sweeps month.
