My chriropractor says thats one of the worst things you can do. I had been doing that since I was in grade school and now I come to find my back is all twisted and it was from cracking my back myself. It feels great but its not worth the pain when your 70+
You really should see a chiropactor most places will give you a free checkup but you have to pay for x-rays. Just so u know exactly whats wrong with you :) Your too young for back problems. They tell me the same thing. I am 24!

Cracking your back( like cracking anywhere else)
Releases small air pockets in the joints.
This relieves some pressure, which is why it feels better.
But this is only a temporary fix.
It has not been shown to increase the chances for arthritis.
Personally I think Chiropractors are Quacks.
There's no science behind what they do.

Chiropractors crack peoples backs all the time. It is a perfectly healthy way of releasing a strain which is placed on them when you sit slouched or bend to much. It just releases the pressure and so it is perfectly healthy.

If your back cracks while bending or stretching that's normal. It's just readjusting itself. If you bend or stretch to the point of pain to make your back crack you could do damage.

As long as you don't starin your back too much as you pop, you should be ok. Make sure you don't do it out of habit and only when you need it.
Learning to stretch properly will pop your back without putting any unneccesary exersion of any parts that don't need it. Look into that from a physical therapist.
