You dig your hole, put the pool in, hook up the filters, add the chemicals, and fill with water. Wait a day for it to fill up, and presto! You're swimming, or playing pool football, or whatever you want to do.
Naw, I'm just joking. They are hundreds of different way to do a football pool. Basically, everyone decides on the rules, or one person decides the rules, and everyone else must agree to them. Then you all put in money. When the game is over, the money is dished out based on the pre-determined rules.
Like I've said, there are hundreds of different way to do it. You can pick the winner, with or without a points spread. You can pick the overall score (add both teams score up). This way it doesn't matter who wins, you are betting on the score, not the winner.
I saw a pool this week that bets on the last digit of each teams score. This way, it doesn't really matter who wins, just what the final score is.
Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, send me a message.

There are lots of variations to football pools. Some are 100 square box pools. Some are 50 or even 25 squares if you don't have many participants.
There are also weekly football pick em games, confidence pools, power ranking pools, survivor pools, and 33 point pools.
The rules for these and other football pools can be found at http://www.sportsbettingacumen.com/office_football_pools.asp
