Why must you inject a racial component into your posts on this site? I think you have about 2, 3, or 4 questions up now, yet none of them explore the racial issue in any intelligible or constructive capacity. I think we all need to celebrate the fact that two African-American coaches will meet each other in the Super Bowl, and today being the first day of Black History Month makes this all the more special.

Well, the best WR stat wise was Mike Furrey of the Detroit Lions. But I would rather have Jeremy Bloom. Crazy speed. The best ever white WR has to be Steve Largent.

To the person who posted an answer about this being black histort month... 70% of the players in the NFL are African American. There is a clause that states that a team must interview an african american for an open head coaching position. I think that a team should have to try out a white player at every skill position. How many white running backs start in the NFL?? 0! How many number 1 white WR's are there? 0! The question was asked because a white skill player in the nfl is uncommon. Not because he is a racist or anything.

Good question! Of those active today, Matt Jones is certainly the most athletic but I can rate him because he was injured all year, while Stokely had one great season a couple of years back/ Furrey and Welker had great seasons THIS year.

I'll have to go with either Welker or Furrey- give Furrey the edge because he plays in Detroit, which as bad as it gets. Welker's more explosive but his contributions came on special teams as much as offense.

Stokely's banner year came on a team with Peyton Manning throwing the ball, with Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne & Edgerrin James ahead of him in the offensive pecking order- opposing defenses were scheming to stop those guys, which created opportunities for Stokely. He's much like Chris Henry currently and Az-Zahir-Hakim back with the 2000 Rams, #3 guys who are a lot better than most nickel backs, but aren't as effective playing vs starting corners.

There's no one around today like Ed McAffrey a few years ago. Matt Jones *might* become a star, we'll see...

hmm...Stokely is one of the best, but he might not be as good without Peyton (same as Dallas Clark, TE I know, but he's basically been playing the slot all the time since stokley got hurt)

Wes Welker's ok too, and so is Drew Bennett (only white #1WR in the NFL before Titans got David Givens --atleast I think Givens became the #1)

Oh, and Brian K --ONLY 98 catches? That's a fair amount dude -- his avg yards per catch was 11.1, that's pretty bad.

Are we talking all-time, or as of today? Don Hutson, Lance Alworth, Steve Largent are 3 that come to mind right away if we go all-time.

If you're talking today, Mike Furrey of the Lions should be at the top of this list - he only had 98 catches and over 1000 yards this year, so why not?

Aw who cares about the racial whatever, I am white and I know white wr's are a rarity in the league, but its a delight to see what light up the field once in awhile. I would have to say that new dolphins WR. I can't remember his name, but the little guy has some quickness in his step.
