It is because most Christians and Catholics are taught for the last, who knows how long, that homosexuality is a sin. The Old Testament does make a point of stating that sodomy is wrong. Remember the story of Sodom & Gommorah? Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt? I believe that it is just being taken out of context...the two cities were destroyed by God for being evil...they practiced every kind of self destruction and over indulgence they broke every commandment and it was considered a very dangerous place to travel & live. The people of these towns violated & abused everthing & everybody sexually and sodomized them as well. In the story 2 strangers (?angels) came to town and Lot invited them to lodge in his home and the townspeople showed up with weapons demanding the 2 strangers be sent out so they could have their way with them, Lot offered to sacrafice one of his daughters for their wanton pleasures instead and that is when the angels revealed themselves and saved Lot and his family from destruction. Unfortunately, Lot's wife was a native of these cities and even though they were told to leave and not look back, she doubted and did and was turned to a pillar of salt. I believe the churches have taken this info out of context (as the church has been known to do, dwelling on letter of the laws vs. the spirit of them), and made the decision that all sodomy is wrong...therefore gay male lifestyle. But if they want to pinpoint, I am sure there are many practicing Catholics/Christians that enjoy anal pleasures!!!!!! Including several priests, with little children.
Because most of society was raised on this fallacy, we are grown up thinking that all homosexality is wrong and we do not know how to approach or feel comfortable with something that is different. I have two young kids and they have been around gay people their whole lives, being in the hospitality industry, they think and judge nothing about it and just know that gay men or women prefer to be with their own sex...end of story, there is no judgement, no ridicule, just fact. We need more of this in life, more acceptance, less misunderstanding and disrespect for things we are unfamiliar with.

Honestly, and I know I might be wrong...but I think you are reading too much into that guy's question. Just because he placed the question,"Do you love the Lord?" into the "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered" category doesn't mean that "religious people want to convert gay men and lesbians into heterosexuals." Am I not a sinful creature, regardless of my sexual preference? Are there any humans that are inpervious to sin? He didn't state that being lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered was a sin, at all. Are people of a specific sexual preference less in need of spiritual guidance than others? Why do you make religion and sexual preference more of an issue than is needed, in this case? What is, in fact, a sin? He didn't clarify.
I don't know about you, but I know many who have various sexual preferences that are very religious. There are some that are so religious that they want to reach out to those similar, offering help and guidance....we all need it from time to time...some find it in the religious context, regardless of the sexual preference affiliation.

It depends on the religion. A lot of Christians do. Most Wiccans don't, because we believe (a) that what two consenting adults do is between those two consenting adults and no one else's business, and (b) that all acts of love and pleasure are sacred. Therefore homosexuality is not only accepted but celebrated for the joy it brings. Wiccans perform gay marriage services and even have some denominations that are entirely dedicated to gay people.

They don't believe it's a condition, but a conscious behaviour/choice.....I guess some of them truly believe this. I would gather they're the ones who don't have an openly gay friend or family member. Even if it WERE a "mutable" condition, I still wouldn't get the moral objection.
That's the answer though...They object morally...
I must point out that there are some religious
people who are NOT homophobic in the least, and would actually vote to legalize gay marriage, etc. I am not one of these (in that I am not religious in the Western sense), but they are out there.

Well, they apparently have nothing of importance going on in their lives and let's face it, they probably aren't getting much....you know....so they have to channel that frustration somewhere. They already know we give and get the best sex so, naturally, convert the gays and lesbians but keep the sex drive intact and voila, happy all around.
Honestly though, I truly believe they're bored and need a hobby, it used to be blacks they went after, then women, so now it's our turn.

Because according to their believes Gay people is condemned, and they have the duty to save or guide as many persons as they can. The sad thing is there is no scientific proofs that Gay people is wrong or sick, they only have books or ancient scriptures. That in majority of cases are interpreted as the head of congregation wants. It would be great if religious people fight for world peace, for tolerance, for education instead of "convert" others from something they didn't ask for, and that is part of them. A condition not only a simple feeling.

Religious "people" don't necessarily want to convert gays and lesbians to a normal lifestyle it's just taken a long time to finally understand that it's probably out of their control whether they will be gay or not (a genetic thing). Being gay is not a natural way to be (literally meaning in the way of nature, not as according to society) and this perplexes people due to the fact that a gay union cannot beget offspring or perpetuate the species (which is left up to heterosexual beings). You can take it from here........... Yet remember that gays and lesbians are welcome in the church and loved just as much as everyone else in the congregation, it's hard to believe that Christ would have loved them any less. It's a myth that the Holy Roman Catholic church hates gays, it simply does not agree with the lifestyle but does accept the persons as just that and would protect and care for them as they would any other Christian.

They hate themselves so much that they have to put their noses into other people's bedrooms, looking for something 'darker' to point their fingers at in a vain attempt to feel better-than.
Worthless waste of time for a bunch of sexually perverted busy-bodies if you ask me.
I really think true sexual perverson lies in the minds of those who have the need to actually 'think' about what other people do in the privacy of their own home.
One of the 10 Commandments should have said, "Thou shalt not think about other people's private sex lives"....for that is truly deviant.

They think that by doing that they save the persons soul. But no amount of conversion can change a gay person to a heterosexual all they can do is change a gay persons actions. If a gay person has no sexual activity then they are not sinning you see.

Why, to "save" us and ensure our immortal souls aren't condemned to an eternity of torture...based on their interpretation of whichever Good Book they happen to read.
That question was put so much better though than "all F@Gs burn in Hell..." and he did blanket everyone as a sinner not just us LGBTs.
