why did fairfield union change their mascot from "charging knights" to "falcons"?

same reason that Furman University changed their name from the "Christian Knights" to the "Paladins"...notice the first letters in each word:

Fairfield
Union
Charging

knights

or...

Furman
University
christian

Knights

there you have it. their names can't be abbreviated, without being vulgar. this was a big thing when those hats came out a few years ago that abbreviated all the college names and mascots.
