There are several online planetarium sites you can use. I personally only use them for a quick spot-check because typically, as good as they are, the web just somehow makes for a dull, relatively uninteractive interface with them. I like to grab the sky and pan smoothly with the mouse, etc. So I recommend finding a planetarium program for your computer.

I come across this site a lot:
http://www.fourmilab.ch/yoursky/

It is good for finding the planets because they have bright colorful symbols stamped on the sky. However, the interface for this one tends to get a bit clunky in my opinion. At the bottom, he lists several other sites and some software you can try at home.

Yes, there is a very helpful interactive sky map online, at:
http://skytonight.com/observing/skychart/

It lets you customise the map for your location and for the date and time (at 1 hr intervals). You can then print out the customised map for reference.

Using this resource, you can check where the visible planets are in relation to the points of compass and to the horizon at any particular moment in time - in daylight or at night (in relation to constellations as well).

And vice versa, with the help of this map you'll be able to identify what planets (and stars) you're looking at at any time.
