depends on the level of soreness. if it is sore to the touch, rest. if not, then some light exercise will actually help the soreness. just don't push too hard. listen to your body. you do not want to injure yourself.

I agree with Eriq P, if you have done so much exercise that you wake up the next day with very sore and painful muscle's then you basically have to wait until the that muscle group has healed. If your muscles are just a little sore the next day, well that means you had a good workout the prior day and after a day off can resume working those muscle groups again. You also should make sure you are getting enough protein, at least 1 gram per pound of body weight and a good 8 hours of sleep. If you aren't doing this already, a good protein/carb shake within 1/2 hour of finishing exercise will help replenish your body and prevent some soreness too. I'd need to know your body size and goals to make further recommendations, email me if desired.

If u absolutly can not move then I would give urself a day of rest and moderate heat and cold packs on ur sore muscles. but, u really need to keep stretching all ur muscles. If ur stumped on excerises for each muscle there are great books like this one, Stretching, by Bob Anderson. Streching is ur biggest key to any physical activity. I know ppl do not like stretching but believe me when u get precise on every main muscle not only will u be pain free, u will not pull any muscles and ur flexibility will increase. Also, remember to warm up ur muscles for 10 min. then stretch, and one important thing ppl forget to do is stretch after ur done with a phyical activity to cool ur muscles down. Hope this helps.
