I think Molly Ivin's own words can give us an idea of why the US press isn't too keen on talking about her:
"It's like, duh. Just when you thought there wasn't a dime's worth of difference between the two parties, the Republicans go and prove you're wrong."
She ruffled a lot of feathers...and was very funny about how she did it.

Molly Ivins' far-left articles were so convoluted and so full of cutsie-pie comments and back-stabs that they were a pain in the patoot to read, even to keep informed of what the enemy was thinking. A shame to have to talk about the dead that way, but it's true.
Maureen Dowd follows in Molly Ivins' footsteps with the same sort of liberal trash and convoluted comments, except Dowd is really a sour person. Even so, we can at least wish her good health.

I heard her being interviewed, this morning, on the radio station I listen to every week-day morning.
She wasn't very fond of the current resident of the White House, so that's why the Conservative owned and run mainstream media won't cover her death.
Remember how they totally ignored the death of the late Great Ann Richards?

Since Molly WAS a liberal, that hardly makes sense now, does it? Perhaps the answer may be something different.
A syndicated columnist is really as only as well known as their readership base at their death. Molly was not all that mainstream. Not many knew about her in the US while she was living, why should that change with her death?

She was sounded pretty much like a liberal when I read her in the Austin-American Statesman.
