My Red Eared Slider is shedding almost everywhere except for his shell, is he sick?

Sliders are reptiles and every now and then they need to shed their skin as with all reptiles. The do shed the scales off their shel but not as often as the soft skin. If this is periodical and not permanent then it is normal. If is it is constantly shedding it's skin it may be down to water quality

no... they often molt everything before their carapace and plastron
