Every time I'm asked to read in front of class or in front of a big audience my heart starts beating really fast and I'm having a hard time reading.I don't want my friends to think that I can't read or that I have a problem.Public speaking is my ultimate fear.I keep telling myself to cool down and that everything's alright but that doesn't help. What should I do??I don't want to be stopped or embarrased by this fear.

You're not alone!

You're allowing your brain to go on a panic-ride. Teach it that that is not neccesary. Try this:
- practise in front of a mirror. Feel emberrassed about reading out loud? Don't stop! Do it again!
- Imagine yourself speaking in front of a class or group. Make the imagination as realistic as possible. Imagine a perfect outcome; when you're finished everyone smiles and the teacher says you did well. Repeat this imagination-excercise every day.

These 2 help you to train your brain not to associate negative emotions with speaking in public.

hi there! u know what, i used to have that problem, too.
u may start by having a friend listen as you speak or read or even sing. then have two. three. include your family members. until you reach 10. 11. 12... and so on. set up a stage made of wood or anything in ur room or in the living room. say, a small table that can hold ur weight. memorize a poem and recite there.
u may have a paperclip on ur pocket and twist&turn it inside.
when speaking in front of an audience, try to think that u are the most intelligent person in there. than noone from ur audience is more than who you are!!! :)

Go into your room and read out loud to nobody. You must be alone. After you are comfortable with just reading to yourself, ask one of your parents or a sibling to listen to you read. Keep on slowly increasing your audience until you can read to you family. Then try your school. If you still get nervous, then get some of your close friends and a sleepover/Reading party. Then try it Again.

I hope you can get over your fear :) Good Luck!!!!

Public speaking is a common fear.

The best remedy is practice. The more you do it, the easier it gets. In the meantime, just be prepared. The more prepared you are the more confident you will be. Also some people say imagining your audience in their underwear helps calm their nerves.

well, if you wear glasses or contacts. take them off! that helped me incredibly, because i couldnt see the people looking at me. also, when you look up during your speech look at the wall in the back of the room, not at a person. pretend like theyre not there. you can also get to know your classmates, if your comfortable talking to them face to face, then talking to them from in front of the class souldnt be a problem. also make your speech interesting. that way youll feel like your telling them something that they want to hear that would benefit them. i hope this helped.

The key to public speaking is to prepare well, know your material and have the assumption you know more about the subject than your audience does, which you most likely do.

there really are no little tricks to instantly help you feel confident, the only thing that will really help is practice! i had to take a speech class in college, it was the scariest thing i ever did! but by the end of the class i felt much more comfortable in front of ppl. good luck!!!

Stand infront of a mirror, give suggestions to yourself that "Reading infront of public is not a problem for you, its no big deal" be loud enough that you could clearly hear it! do it repeatedly in regular intervals, repeat this exercise while going to sleep such you go to sleep while saying this line.....Then start to practice the reading infront of the mirror, having eye contact with yourself....You'll overcome your fear :)
