I have an irregular period and have my whole life. Me and my husband decided to try to conceive in Aug. The only problem is my irregular period. For a while I was taking a pregnancy test every month. This time around it still hasnt started and its been 37days since my last and I have been sick. Im sick in the morning and at night. I have no energy and have to use the restroom constantly. My side (above my right ovary) is tender at night. I have no clue if this could be a pregnancy or what. I dont know when is a good time to take a test because I know that they say they can only be taken as early as a week before a missed period, but I have no sceduale. Any suggestions as to what it minght be or what to do?

I always had the same problem. My periods were for a long time irregular. And with all 3 of my children, above an ovary would be sore for the first few weeks of pregnancy. I would just schedule an appointment with an ob/gyn and let them do a blood test. Because you can always get a false positive or negative with an at home pregnancy test. GOOD LUCK!

My suggestion is go to the Dollar Store and buy the $store preg. test....They actually work really well. I am currently 6 weeks preg. and I got a positive result before my period was due. That way your not spending alot of money. I would suggest wait 3 weeks after your next period and take the test once a week until you start your period again. You are having preg. symptons but it can also be pms symptons. Maybe try charting your bbt "body basal temperature" thats how I knew I was preg. also my bbt stayed elevated after I ovulated....Good Luck!!!!

Go and buy a couple test, take one every few days, if after about 2 weeks there is nothing then most likly you are not pregnant, but if you still feel the symtoms go to the doctor and get a blood test done. Good Luck!

Well you could either use a saliva ovulation kit to tell when you are ovulating, or basal body temp to check for ovulation. Both of these require a one time expense and do not need you to keep buying tests and then you can test for pregnancy two weeks after you ovulate and it should be pretty accurate.

Or you can buy bulk pregnancy tests in boxes of 10, 25 or 50. Anything less than $1 per test is a good price. Then you could just test every week.

Remember you don't need a fancy plastic holder.

I really recommend charting. Most women do not have textbook cycles. Unless you are charting your individual fertility signs, you could be totally missing your ovulation day, your preovulatory fertile phase, lack of or inadequate fertile cervical fluid, or luteal phase issues. ESPECIALLY if you have irregular cycles, charting can help.

Some resources: fertilityfriend.com (free and for purchase software, online charting tutorial). Ovusoft.com (very good for purchase software and many discussion groups). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ ovusoft) and Garden of Fertility.
