ok, i just bought a windows vista laptop recently. i instaled starcraft a few minutes ago, and runned it. as i was running it, the graphics were discolored and all weird. the game worked fine, it was just the graphics, all messed up and in different colors. i meet all the system requirements, except that blizzard(the makers of starcraft) said that it doesnt support windows vista. could this discolored change in the game have to do with me getting windoes vista, or is it my video card. (my video card is 256MB, and if i remember, the starcraft minimum requirement was 64MB for your video card). please help! i really dont want my new laptop to screw up just becuz of a game! best answer gets the points!

Your videocard is fine, it's the game.
Starcraft is a little old. It runs at 640x480 which is hardly used anymore. So perhaps this mode wasn't tested properly.
Starcraft does not allow you to choose other resolutions.

There is a setting called 'color cycling' in the game; try it.
Also try to get, or to wait for newer drivers for your card.

If you're willing to invest, buy a second or third hand old computer. Starcraft doesn't need much so it should cost you less than a new videocard!

Lastly, you could try Red Alert orCommand&Conquer Generals.
I enjoyed those a lot after playing lots of Starcraft.

"Gaming" laptops mild in assessment to the same own pc equipment- laptops are changed/designed for portability and capacity intake over capacity. while you're going for a gaming laptop, you want an ATI or nVidia snap shots card that does no longer use shared memory, a multi-middle processor, and a selection of of alternative GB of ram (4GB minimum in recent times) with abode windows 7 64bit to hire that RAM. This laptop meets all those specs- it's going to probable play maximum video games basically superb. MMOs specifically are designed for an more desirable variety of structures, so ultimate snap shots are not a great exchange from good snap shots (and for this reason no longer a great kick up on equipment specs.

try right clicking the Starcraft icon, go to properties, and under the compatibility tab check the run this program in compatibility mode box, and try running the program in different modes, If that doesn't work, try Command & Conquer Generals:Zero Hour.
It's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Let me know how it works out.
