Charting helped me identify the reasons why my husband and I weren't conceiving. W/o it, I imagine we could have gone on and on for a long time w/o success.

The first time around, I had problems w/ adequate cervical fluid. The second time I had a very short luteal phase. Both problems were easily fixable. While it did take some time to conceive both times (8 months the first time and 14 months the second), I can imagine it would have taken years otherwise. W/o charting, I wouldn't have even know I had a short luteal phase (much too short to sustain a pregnancy) b/c my total cycle length was "normal." I could have been conceiving but not having the babies implant. How awful.

Charting can help you pinpoint when YOU actually ovulate (which may not be anywhere near the standard Day 14). It can help you be aware of when, how much and what kind of fertile cervical fluid you're producing (you could produce 6 days of egg-white cervical fluid or half a day of creamy cervical fluid on the day you ovulate). The sperm cannot survive w/o fertile CF, by the way. Charting can also let you know if your luteal phase is long enough. And charting can tell you if there's other issues w/ your body or your cycle that you cannot solve on your own. Charting can provide early warning of serious problems w/ your reproductive system.

Anyway, some sources to check out: Fertilityfriend.com (software for free and for purhcase, online charting tutorial). Ovusoft.com (very good software for purchase, many discussion groups). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility and Garden of Fertility.

STOP TRYING! All the stress will get to both of you. And that's not good . We tried for 2 years and finally we stopped trying and doing that lifted so much stress off of both of us. And three months after giving up we got pregnant . I tell every one this. And every time they say they just gave up they got pregnant. So no more stress. Have fun and let it happen. BEST OF LUCK!

Have sex two or three days when you get off your period. Do it doggie style. Thats how I got pregnant.
