Because Israel does not exist as a nation, it was created by the allies after the war to get the Jews out of Europe, and if it was not supported by the Americans it would have been crushed a long time ago, Palestine belongs to the Palestinians, Jew or Muslim or Arab

Since the region is very rich in oil and the Arab countries were not very friendly to the West ,the West countries needed someone in the region to control those resources...So saying that the Arabs have already to much land (so they won't miss a country) and that the Jews have suffered enough during Holocaust ,they created Israel in Palestine, which back then was under British mandate...
Israel was created without asking the Palestinians if they want to share their country with someone else...Both think that they are entitled to that land:Israelis because they said that God promised them the land and that their ancestors lived there 2000 years ago and Palestinians because they lived there for centuries...

The most unreasonable Palestinians feel aggrieved at having their land stolen and either being expelled from their former country or imprisoned in the quasi concentration camps of Gaza and the West Bank. It is commonly supposed that Adolf Eichmann was kidnapped by Israel for revenge. The reality is that his expertise was required to administer Arab territories.

The Palestinians don't want the state of Israel, full stop. Israelis are fighting to survive. The truth is a lot of Israelis and Arab's get on well together, it down to extremists on both sides that are causing unrest, It seems to be the old story these days Religious extremists every bloody where, lets just hope the Church of England don't follow suit, I don't fancy my local vicar slashing the tyre's on my car, just because i didn't go to church last Sunday !!!

For land.
I think you'll find most Israelis do not consider Palestinians their brothers, neither do the Palestinians feel any harmony towards the Israelis.
Its a case of different cultures/languages/religions etc. And mainly the governments who cause all the trouble.

in my mind, the region was ok, people lived in harmony, and then vast amounts of jewish people were brought into the area, as they were seeking a homeland and independant state, and what started out as a bit of immigration, became a land takeover... hence the unrest.
