What do I need to look out for if I move from a big corporate to a small business?

You'll be under supervision more...less people under one roof means more personal attention from the bosses- negative or positive. It may be harder to take specific days off, being as there will be less people to cover your absence..more hassle for calling out sick. Also, be careful if the small business is family owned, because chances are if it's family owned you will have little room for advancement. They tend to keep things in the family.

Wearing a lot of different hats. Building from the ground up means there isn't the manpower to assign specific job functions. You'll have a primary position, and pick up slack in other areas. This can be good, because then people know how their business acutually operates. Eventually as the business grows and volume demands that new people be brought on to handle specific tasks.

Things are more personal, as far as the owner is concerned, and there usually aren't vast resources. You'll probably be depended upon more for what you can offer. Benefits might be more of a problem, because of the oppressive measures of liberal Democrats.
