Wouldn't have anything to do with being legal, it would depend on your company's policy. Sure its legal. If you dont work they dont have to pay you but most company's have a sick policy.

Check your employee handbook. Most will state that you have a certain number of sick days. For me (in Missouri) I have 10 sickdays and that covers our fiscal year (April '06 - March '07). Since I have already used mine, if I need to take a sick day I will be docked pay. I would ask your supervisor or HR for an explanation. Otherwise look for a new job.

The employee needs to consult their employee manual first and speak with HR. Generally, salaried employees are entitled to sick time but that should all be spelled out in their work agreement.

I dont see how it would be
My reasoning behind this is they don't get paid any extra for over fourty hrs, or if they come in on there day off. So how could they be docked pay.
