Friend of mine. he is using windows XP, he can move his mouse every where on the screen, and click on things, but after he double click on file or icons, nothing opens. I tried to use Crl+alt+del, the task screen won't come out. It will work only we restart his computer again. But it happens again once a while. what's the problem?

He has a bug. Either spyware/adware/virus can cause those symptoms. Try booting into safemode and running MSCONFIG to make sure something strange isn't loading when the PC is loading.

Sounds like he has something in the background that is hanging up the computer. When that happens, a reboot is the only solution.

Check for spyware (Run both Skybot Seek&Destroy and Ad-aware SE personal - free at http://download.com )

See how much free space is on his hard drive. Should have a miminum of 1 gig free (or 10% of the hard drive). If there is no space for the files Windows needs to create while running, it will freeze the PC.

Do a disk defragment

Turn off any unneeded programs that are being loaded on Start up (Start > Run > Type in : msconfig > go to the Start up tab > uncheck anything you do not have to have loade on start up (you can usually uncheck everything) )
