technology will eventually close the gap for us...it is becoming more and more acceptable for people to work from home with their pc's..i don't want urban areas encroaching on my peace and quiet rural existence..but it would be nice if some of the luxuries of technology were abit more accessable out here...we have satelite tv and internet..cell phones don't work that great..but it has gotten better...but as a whole i don't want the gap to be closed.

What kind of a gap do you mean ? You would have to level all cities and towns and turn them into farmland. Or else you can cover all of our farmland with concrete, houses and factories.
Personally, I'm not in favor of either solution. Maybe it would be better to have some of both, and overlook the "gap".
