My father and my mother told me that some time ago they had heard some strange noises in their room, as if somebody would have been talking, but there had been nobody. I have to add, that they are absolutely normal people, not crazy ones, but I just don't know how to explain this thing. My father also told me that he had the feeling at night as if there would have been some evil spirits around that didn't let him sleep, giving him dark thoughts (increasing his already too high level of anxiety), and they only stopped when he repeated "Go away from me!". And then he suddenly felt a tingling sensation in all his body...and everything calmed down. And then he could sleep.
I have to add, that both of my parents are very religious people.

I down't know what to make of it...what do you think?? Serious answers please, thank you!

I was raised in that house, and I didn't hear anything.
By the way, they have been living there for 19 years...

I think you may be on your own on this one. Personally I don't believe in ghosts, spirits, the tooth fairy or other things I call myths. I can give you a number of reasons, all quite natural, that could be blamed for your parents’ experiences.

A house settling can cause some very eerie noises. Wind noises can add to the disquieting as can a tree branch rubbing the house. A mouse in the wall, a bird in the attic, cats or dogs under the floor boards or nothing more than something expanding and contracting with heat like a furnace pipe could be the culprit.

Internally there are more issues. A dream state can seem so real that a person will awaken perspiring profusely. There is a state between being asleep and being awake where the body can feel paralyzed. Even food and eating habits can cause people to have trouble sleeping or cause them to awaken very easily or very abruptly. You say your Dad carries a fair load of anxiety, well that can cause unrest as well. There are other reasons as well but I don't want to turn this into a book.

On the other hand there are people who do believe it ghosts, spirits and other such tings. Additionally they have evidence they believe proves their point. You may want to have a look at some of their "evidence". I have looked at a considerable amount of it and I am impressed. I am not yet convinced but I try to be fair, open minded and not simply dismiss it out of hand.

I think you are just going to have to decide what "you" think and proceed on that course.

I probably didn't provide you very much help but I wouldn't feel right about telling you to go one way or the other. It really is a decision you will --"have"-- to live with, so it should be one you --"can"-- live with...

It's entirely possible there are spirits hassling your Father and taking advantage of his condition. The fact that he had the tingling sensation and the calmness came reassures me that someone is watching over him, someone good. Just tell him to think positive thoughts and don't dwell on negative things. Negative energy attracts malicious spirits, positive energy protects you. I'm hoping things are better now.:)

Spirits! They have always lived among us. I am wondering did this just start happening or did your parents just move into this house? Usually spirits hang out in certain houses for reasons. The house I grew up in had a spirit in it. It was no big deal though, it never messed around with us.

They were probably dreaming and woke up from a nightmare, and thought they heard or saw something.
