Yes...it's become entirely too complex...childhood in America used to be about having a lemonade stand, helping your dad in the yard, and making cookies with grandma. In ten years, I forsee these things as being incredibly foreign as the kids will be forced to be intellectual by the time they can distinguish blue from green, unfortunatelly.

I think it's changed, not that much to be honest, but enough to highlight certain traits that kids must have had all along. People talk about kids not getting out and about because of PC's and consoles and what have you. But these are just the tools of the more reclusive kid, who doesn't like to mix or play sports. 30 years ago they'll have done something else, read or draw or something on the quieter side of life.
One thing that has changed is how many kids CHOOSE not to do stuff. When I was a kid, I was lucky as I enjoyed sport and outdoor persuits, and hated being indoors. i probably didn't really understand how many kids out there didn't like that and only did it 'cos parents and teachers enforced it. Now kids seem to have a choice and I think that has made the difference.
However, maybe this isn't the best way and there needs to be some kind of balance. we're seeing an increase in issues of childrens health (not just obesity) and perhaps there should be stricter guidelines in schools to facilitate kids knowing and learning to be healthy. I also think it's harder to let kids know when they're doing wrong. Not so much correcting them or trying to create a deterrent, but a swift cuff across the back of the head to let them know they'd crossed a line.

Oh, it has changed a lot. My view is that children are faced with much more responsibility, from a much earlier age - from dealing with computers, the internet, cells, technology becoming more and more hi-....
I just feel they have lost part of the charm of being worry-free, and that development, globalization, industrialization etc have left them very little room to live their childhood dreams.

Absolutely! Kids have gone from wanting Cabbage Patch Dolls to ipods and laptops. They need more supervision and protection from the "bad things / people" out there.

Those were the days when children could walk and play and roam the countryside without getting, murdered, raped or beaten up.

you're able to forgive them in spite of in the event that they don't deserve it or are not remorseful once you forgive the soreness anger resentment you have in the direction of them will bypass away and you'd be unfastened.
