BHP is brake horsepower. This is usually how manufacturers measure the output of an engine. An engine dyno is used and it tells how much power the engine produces.

WHP is wheel horsepower. This is how most tuners and speedshops measure the output of an engine. A chassis dyno is used and it measures the output of the engine at the vehicle's WHEELS, after the engine's power has traveled through the transmission and the driveline. This number is arguably more important because power is lost through the drivetrain. Therefore the numbers that are being put down to the wheels represent horsepower/torque figures that are actually "useable."

one is at the crank, the other is at the wheels, the wheels # is the number you should be concerned with. When you see comercials on tv and they say they have 300 hp, that is at the crank, the wheel horsepower is somewhere around 250 hp. Same with torque #'s
