I would like to be proud of our country again, but its hard to be when you see what the last few governments have done to it. We have sold out to Europe, taken in every scum bag from all over the world, and our government has let it happen, it has sold it people down the river. As for top gear, well that's more like 2nd gear these days the only cars they want to road test are far beyond the reach of the ordinary man/woman. OK the footie's good, but when it comes to a national team, we cant even kick our way out of a paper bag. As for location, well anywhere in the world is a good location, depends where you want to get to, for me anywhere but here. Strong economy, how come so many people are in so much debt then ?,if the banks call their markers in you'll soon see how weak it is then ? Oh and the countryside, well make the most of it, before the government builds house's on it, well that's their plan.

As much as I would like it to be, being a British citizen, it is not. An official study of the 'Human Development Index' ranked the United Kingdom 26th in the world, trailing behind nations such as Israel, Finland, and Hong Kong.* Another HDI study, which incorporated the main factor of inequality, ranked the United Kingdom 21st in the world, behind the likes of Greece, Slovenia and Luxembourg.** A study carried by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2006 ranked the UK 9th in the world in its measures to ensure gender equality - sure, it's not as bad as the other ranks they've attained from the prior studies, but it's still quite poor from a nation that claims to 'punch above its weight' as a global power. Again, the United Kingdom ranks 9th in the world on the list of 'Most charitable countries in the world'***, behind nations far less economically able than us, such as Sweden, Finland and Ireland. That said, we rank 4th in absolute terms, but in relation to GDP we only spend .52% on international aid, which I'm sure will be cut even further in due course. I think the statistics are speaking for themselves. I could find a dozen more probably, that would show the flaws of our healthcare, educational system, and literacy levels. Take a look at the final link I've provided in the source area (sorry they don't seem to appear as hyperlinks so you'll have a to cut and paste into the search bar) for further information on where we stand on an international level.****

I remember speaking a few years back to two people who originated from Egypt and they said that of all the countries they'd looked into to go and live in, Britain was by far the best in the world.
Haven't seen them for a few years but would love to know if they still feel the same way.

Yes Britain is still the best, ask anyone who will risk their lives to get here legal or otherwise. When I hear of a mass exodus of people leaving GREAT BRITAIN I will know all is not well. All we need is the right man at the top..........Yes I am very proud of this country.

I think Britain is sh*t however all the Portuguese.Lithuanians, Polish and Turkish that I meet think it's fantastic and want to stay here so perhaps I just don't appreciate what I've got. Getting rid of Blair can only improve things.

What is Britain?......... it's a thing of the past.......but the english just won't let go.... they dream of days of london rule... thankfully it's coming to an end...
The British concept was convenient for the english to strip other nations of their wealth, Wales of their coal, Scotland of their gas reserves.... but the english aren't giving up......cause now their stripping the world of their football players..... well it's been a while since 1966!!!!

There is nothing wrong with this country or it's history, the thing that is very wrong is the government and you can't blame the people for that, because does anyone in government ask us what we want, do we want the madcap laws they are proposing to make, or have made.

I'm as proud as the next guy, but it's getting harder and harder!
It used to come easy before, being proud of Britain, but now you have to dredge it up. There is far too much to be ashamed of right now!
